WAPA’s action is based on subsidiarity, which means that it is our local partner who runs the programmes. The basic idea is not to take the place of local skills: whatever can be done by the small possible entity, should be. In other words, the people who best understand the situation are those who live in it on a daily basis. If they can put solutions in place, they must be allowed to take the initiative. However, this does not mean that no support is needed. The principle of subsidiarity goes hand in hand with the principle of support: in our case: fundraising and communication.
